Some July Mac News Items:

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:  Jean Hewitson

What do you think the best thing about living in Macarthur or surrounding district?

I like the friendliness without it being intrusive, and I enjoy the cross-section of ages in the community. I also appreciate the excellent health and medical services we have access to.

How long have you lived here?

12 years.

Where else have you lived?

Portland, Melbourne and England.

What 3 things keep you the most busy?

Interacting with the community and helping out where I can, my home based massage business and my family (particularly those in Australia) are very important to me. I also enjoy my CWA involvement.

What do you think has changed for the better about

 Macarthur & district?

The development of businesses in the town, such as the accommodation, the street scaping which makes the town look nice, and the rose garden. The addition of  the restaurant at the Hotel is appreciated.

What’s something about you that most people probably don’t know?

My long varied career in nursing which was very fulfilling, I delivered lots of babies and enjoyed teaching students.

What are you really good at?

Getting along with others, and I maintain an ongoing empathy with women and children. I think it’s important to keep active and fit.

What is your favourite hobby?

Gardening and reading. I do enjoy being involved with bowls, (and Golf beckons) interacting with thes groups is very enjoyable.

If you had another life, what would you like to come back as next time?

A woman.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

To live, I love life!

Thanks for your time Jean.   Who Is NEXT ????? Could be YOU

ORFORD & DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS

Playing at home gave no advantage this week with all home teams going down.  Round seven marks the halfway mark of the competition for the year.  No surprises.  Warrnambool sit pretty undefeated at present, St Helens and Attunga (remember they have a game to catch up) giving chase.  Tarrone having taken over the bottom after being defeated by Macarthur.Round 7Attunga v Winslow.   Winslow seems to be struggling for players; it’s no way to tackle the consistent Attunga team.  Going in undermanned will only get you defeated.Macarthur v Vikings.  Nightowl would tip Macarthur to win this game if they played the Drendel’s and Adrian Fitzpatrick but if they don’t Vikings have the edge. St Helens v Warrnambool. Warrnambool are on top undefeated for a number of reasons: consistency, fitness and they’re just plain too good!  St Helens might push but when it comes to shove, Warrnambool has the grunt! Tarrone the bye. Round 5 Results.Tarrone were defeated by Vikings 4.15/7.24.  Tarrone held their end up but didn’t win the close encounters to get over the line.  Rodger Learmonth, Vikings was the night’s three-rubber winner. Macarthur were defeated by St Helens 2.14/9.28Just whom will St Helens pull out of the hat next?  This week Aaron Rowbottom dusted off the paddle, winning his three rubbers to make the winning night.  St Helens won four of the six extended rubbers, working hard too get the four points. Attunga were defeated by Warrnambool 3.13/8.27The long rubbers made for a late night, but Warrnambool had the edge in the end.  Attunga couldn’t just win the extra point, Warrnambools extra fitness or eye getting them over the line.  Bill Beattie won his three rubbers.Winslow the bye.
